Havingbeenpassiveplayersfordecades,Asiancountriesarenowincreasinglywillingtoparticipateintheformulationofregionalandglobalorders,forwhichtheyneedtoarticulatetheirownstrategiesandtheworldneedstobetterunderstandtheirmindsets.Inthepasttwoyears,intheframeworkofEUCentresinAsia-Pacific,sometopAsianscholarsonEU-AsianrelationswerebroughttogethertodebatethestrategiesofindividualAsiancountriestowardstheEU,andevaluatetheEU’sactionsintheregion.Intheireyes,theEUwasinterpretedasanormativepower,asecurityplayer,acivilianpromoterandahealth-caresupplier.Together,theyaimedtoestablishsomecommonrulesforexplainingAsiancountries’strategiestowardstheEUafterin-depthstudyoftheactionsofindividualcountriesintheirbilateralrelationswiththeEU.
